Labor Day Weekend

Many things have happened in the past three months - too many to count. I have been terrible about getting on here and making her blog. Well NO LONGER! I shall start again today and keep this thing updated for all of you interested people.
This past weekend was Labor Day and the Self clan came down from Kirksville to visit. Saturday night we traveled over to Helen Jack's home for a birthday celebration. It was a lot of fun! Lots of food and great company. It had been awhile since we had been able to see Helen, Suzie and Caroline so it was very nice to catch up. All of their friends are super friendly so we had a very nice time!
Below is Helen and Caroline (awwww). Also, there was another baby there that was 4 1/2 months old - Ryan was as big (and her head even bigger)! I guess we have a big baby!
Sunday was pretty lazy - It's still pretty hard to get out and do a whole lot with a baby that eats every two hours or so. We had a nice breakfast and watched one of my favorite movies - Anchorman (what a classic). Ryan enjoyed the company of her cousins, Aunt and Uncle.

Sunday night we went to dinner and had to come home to play The Match Game or Jonathan and Tyler's heads would explode. It was a lot of fun. Ryan was on my team and we kicked donkey in the first game. Monday we walked over to the school to play for a little bit and the Self clan packed up and headed home.

I dropped Mike off at the airport this afternoon. He is off to Baltimore for a business trip. It is his first time away from me and the baby. We will miss him terribly.

Shots!!! Two Months Old

So my poor baby had to go to the doctor today to get her two month shots. I have been dreading this appointment for some time, and actually had a hard time sleeping last night. Ryan did really well, taking the first shot like a champ. The second one really pissed her off though. I snatched her up and nursed her right away and that calmed her. She slept peacefully for a while- and then woke up and screamed and screamed. She wasn't interested in eating for about 8 hours that day. But by the next morning things were back to normal thankfully. It was so hard knowing she was in pain and uncomfortable. As my Dad said, it would be the first time she realized that other people could hurt her. :(
She weighed in at 11 pounds 11 ounces (70th percentile), was 24 inches long (90th percentile) and her head measured a whopping 16.5 inches (95th percentile - no surprise there!). We don't have to go back to the doctor for another two months.

Developmentally she is doing well. We have long conversations on the changing table. She really likes to exercise her vocal chords while getting her diaper changed for some reason. She plays on her playmat for short periods - she bats and kicks the hell out of her toys. I can put a rattle in her hand and she'll move it around for a minute before she drops it. She is good at putting weight on her legs - we just need her little feet to turn totally flat. She can balance her head on her own for short periods. Overall she is full of happiness - she's such a good baby. Her personality is developing every day and despite her genes she is a super sweetie!! :)

She's Here!!!

Although it may be hard to believe, the title 'The Tardy Princess' does not apply to me. It applies to our beautiful daughter Ryan Elizabeth. She was due on May 22nd 2009 according to the doctors. I guess I made a lovely home for her inside my belly because I didn't go into labor until June 6th, a mere 4 hours before a planned induction (I guess she knew we were finally going to intervene). Ryan was born after 26 hours of labor on June 7th at 8:09 p.m. - a whopping 16 days late. She was well worth the wait and *gasp* even worth the labor. Mike and I love her more than words can say. She is the greatest gift I have given Mike, and he to me.
